Results of the XXI Moscow International Logistics Forum (February 12 - 16, 2018)


    This year Moscow International Logistics Forum has broken all previous records by the number of participants! More than 500 representatives of trade, manufacturing and logistics companies from 29 regions of Russia and 12 foreign countries, including Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, Latvia, Greece, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have visited the main day of the Forum. Jos Marinus, Vice-President of the European Logistic Association (ELA), opened the program of the Forum with his report on topic "End-to-end supply chain management: transparency, innovative approaches and practical recommendations".

     MMLF-2018 was remembered by a number of innovations. The main one was experimental Demo-zone – an exhibition space of 420 square meters where products of more than 20 logistics companies were exposed. Visitors could see innovative solutions in demo-zone, both in breaks between sessions, and in a special format of exclusive demo-zone participation. Another innovation was the Workshop session, which allowed participants to receive recommendations from experts on solving specific problems in the logistics of companies with a link to industry specifics, as well as to participate in the discussion of their own questions and cases.

According to the results of survey the TOP-5 questions that participant wanted to know more about were:

1. Selection of automation systems for logistics processes and planning

2. Implementation of warehouse management systems

3. Modernization of warehouses, their equipping and creation of new logistics centers

4. Improving the efficiency of the transport company

5. Reengineering of internal logistics processes in the enterprise

     According to the statistics of the organizing committee, 43% of Forum participants are representatives of trade and distribution companies, 32% of manufacturing companies; 15% - logistic operators; 10% - representatives of companies-developers of logistics solutions and technologies. The overwhelming majority of participants (33%) are logistics specialists and heads of logistics units (24%), another 21% are logistics directors, 12% are business managers and business owners and 10% are IT specialists.


     Among the main values of the forum, the delegates of MMLF-2018 marked the opportunity to hear about real examples of logistics organization from representatives of large international companies. Participants also highly appreciated demo-zone, which allowed them to get acquainted with a number of innovative technological solutions and create new partnerships. Among other things, the high value of informal communication during the evening reception was marked. On February 16, the MMLF-2018 participants went on an extended excursion program, which included visiting the nine largest automated logistics such as X5 Retail Group, M.Video, Metro Group, Yves Rocher, Coca-cola, Ralph Ringer, as well as visiting the newest High-bay warehouse in Odintsovo. In addition, one of the excursions took place at the largest innovation platform in the field of logistics - the Scientific and Educational Center for Innovative Technologies in Logistics of MADI (Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University). Summing up the results of the MMLF-2018, the organizer of the Forum - the Logistics Coordination Council - will traditionally prepare a series of publications in the form of practical recommendations useful to all industry participants that will be posted weekly on CCL web pages and in social networks during the coming months.
